Biography

My most recent legal professional experience was two and a half years with Thomson West (Westlaw.com), the leading online legal & news information provider for attorneys, corporations and government agencies.  As an Account Representative, I was responsible for providing legal research training to attorneys and staff at large law firms in Oregon.  As an employee of Thomson West, I completed extensive legal research and presentation training.

Prior to my position with Thomson, I served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General (2000-2003) as a Supervising Legal Assistance Attorney.  My practice with the Navy included a client base of over 30,000 sailors, soldiers and Marines, retirees and military families covering all topics including estate planning, family law, consumer law, immigration, and military law.

After graduating from law school and before becoming active in the U.S. Navy, I operated a successful independent contractor legal practice in Missoula, Montana for over two years providing legal research, writing, trial preparation and client services to local attorneys.  My experience included family law, personal injury and commercial landlord/tenant law.

During law school, I gained exceptional legal knowledge as a Student Legal Specialist for the Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, where I was required to conduct depositions daily and appear in court on behalf of the City of New York under a special practice rule.  This position provided me with a background in negligence defense on behalf of the City of New York against tort claims.
